Welcome to my site. I want you to be aware of how your personal information is used. First thank you for visiting Jaylee’s world. I am an author interested in building a mailing list of readers who want to be informed of new books, reviews, or other trivia I find interesting.

Here is what’s important to understand: all websites store some data. I will inform you of my goals and how I use your information. To make sure this site is protected, I use Akismet to provide anti-spam services.

What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Comments

I love to talk and using comments is a wonderful avenue to share ideas. When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. But remember if there’s ever a time you want me to remove your information just contact me and I’ll immediately remove your information.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media / Newsletter

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

I use the e-mail addresses to allow my followers to know of upcoming releases, blogs, and other information regarding author’s books.

Contact forms

In my author’s page you will find a contact form that allows you to e-mail me with your concerns at anytime. These messages will be checked for spam and then transmitted through normal e-mail channels.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year. Here is what’s important to understand all websites store some data. I will inform you of my goals and how I use your information. Embedded content from other websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.

Google Analytics

Google and other search engines track website visitors. This is something that happens whenever you use the internet. If you do not want to be tracked, please consider using a private browser window.  The information that these search engines store is not traceable to one individual and so is very generic in nature. I do not store this information, however I do occasionally look at it so that I can tell what people are searching for when they come to my site. This helps me provide more relevant content.

Facebook Pixel

A Facebook pixel appears on every page of this site to help us determine a marketing audience and to track the success of Facebook advertising campaigns. Email addresses collected by the author can, at times, be uploaded collectively to Facebook in order for its algorithms to create a “look-alike” group of similar Facebook users who may also be interested in the author’s books. Individual email addresses are not used to target individual users on Facebook. The creation of “look-alike audiences” is a common practice used by Facebook advertisers when trying to expand their organic reach. It does not give Facebook the right to contact you using the email addresses that were uploaded.

Google reCAPTCHA

We have implemented reCAPTCHA v3 on our site and your use of reCAPTCHA v3 is subject to Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Use. reCAPTCHA is used to fight spam and abuse on our site. reCAPTCHA works by collecting hardware and software information, such as device and application data, and sending these data to Google for analysis. The information collected in connection with your use of the service is used for improving reCAPTCHA and for general security purposes. It is not used for personalized advertising by Google.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

How we protect your data

I currently use SSL (encryption) to protect your data in transit to and from this site. The only information that is stored is information that you provide freely through your consent.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. Akismet is used to provide anti-spam service.
