My grandmother passed when I was in my early twenties. I remember seeing her in my room one night and she told me she loved me. Her words were strange. She said, ” be brave and full of courage for you will achieve more than you will ever imagine.” The next day, I learned of my grandmother’s passing. So this journey is to you Grams for seeing the potential in me.
In the following weeks, I will post snippets of her life, along with journaling my experiences in becoming an author. I’ll share pieces of my life, family, and experiences. One of the first pieces of writing I wrote was a short story for Grams. In this blog, I will share a couple paragraphs each time.
I would also like you to share stories of the one person who made a difference in your life. Happy Reading
It’s never too late to find the love of your life. Love’s Nectar by Jaylee Austin
Chapter One
For the past week, the Santa Ana winds pierced Isabel’s skin, burned her eyes, and inflamed her mood. Her sinus’s waged war inside her pounding head. Isabel splashed cool water over her face and stared coldly at her reflection. Dust and make-up formed pockets under her eyes. She heaved a raspy sigh. “Grams, I can’t betray Lily. I promised.” Only her image stared back taunting her.
Grams understood the guilt of a secret. Like a ghost walked over Isabel’s grave, she shivered remembering the English phrase, a phrase Gram always recited. Her words of warning filled Isabel’s heart.
Tell Seth the truth. Tell your daughter the truth. Tell yourself the truth.
In six months, she would marry Seth and become his wife if he didn’t leave her. The decision she made today could change the rest of their lives. The wall clock chimed eleven p.m.
Isabel took out her phone and texted Jonas, her best friend since grade school. “Bring pizza. Tomorrow noon. Urgent. Seth. Grams. Secret unraveling. Need your help. Isabel.”
She sat back in her chair and sipped her tea. The truth of her life came like a thief in the night, unexpected and unwanted.
The story continues in the next post…
